WHat is Himalayan Kundalini yoga?
At its heart, Himalayan Kundalini is a powerful and ancient yogic practice that draws deeply from the philosophy and practices of Tantra. Often misunderstood in the West, Tantra, in its original and authentic sense, means "to weave" or "to expand." It is a profound spiritual path that sees all of existence, including our physical reality, as sacred and divine. Instead of transcending or rejecting the world, Tantra embraces it as a manifestation of divine consciousness, offering pathways to liberation and heightened awareness through engagement with life.
Within the Himalayan Kundalini tradition, this means that every aspect of our being – body, mind, emotions, and spirit – is seen as a vehicle for awakening. It's a holistic approach designed to awaken and harness the immense potential energy that lies dormant within each of us. Often depicted as a coiled serpent at the base of the spine (the Muladhara chakra), this energy, known as Kundalini Shakti, is the very source of our vitality, creativity, and spiritual awareness.
Rooted in the wisdom of the Himalayan sages, this practice integrates a holistic approach through:
Kriyas: Dynamic sequences of movements, breathwork (pranayama), mudras (hand gestures), and sounds (mantras) designed to systematically purify and open the energetic channels (nadis) within the body. These powerful techniques generate energy, release old patterns, and create shifts on physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels, all in alignment with Tantric principles of embracing and transforming energy.
Meditation: Practices to cultivate inner stillness, expand awareness, and access deeper states of wisdom and peace, ultimately leading to the realization of our inherent divinity.
